Verdensteatret: Concert for Greenland

The artistic group Verdensteatret from Oslo comes for the first time to Slovakia and will perform on the International Theater Festival Divadelná Nitra on 27th and 28th September 2005.

Verdensteatret was founded in 1986. There are artists from different art fields, under the artistic leadership of Lisbeth J. Bodd and Alse Nilsen, working together in Verdensteatret. They make stage productions and other art related projects in trying to bridge the gap between artistic borders. Their poetics is characterised by experiments with both old and new art expressions, artistic means and media.

The production of Verdensteatret have became in the last years more and more intermedial and multiartistics. Therefore it became natural to perform these pieces in different contexts: art museums and galleries, theater rooms, music festivals, etc.

Most of the performances can be experienced as a sort of an orchestral work, appealing not just to musical side but also audio visual side. A typical example on this is Verdensteatrets new production Concert for Greenland.

On the stage they built a machinery, simultaneously ambitious and primitive, a dream-machine performers operate as they become a part of installation. Images are projected at the back wall, all intertwined with the stage-machinery which are constantly moving where shadows, projections and visual echoes create a room the audience can contemplate, meditate upon. The final result is impressing. All what is left is the unique “Greenlandic feeling”.
