Extreme Summer Fun in Norway

Want to jump off a cliff, throw yourself into a river, or try a few of the other activities most people think is pure madness? At the Extreme Sports Week in Voss you can do it all!

26/06/2007 :: The Norwegian Extreme Sports Week is the world's largest festival of alternative sports with more than thousand participants from 30 nations. This year the festival celebrates its 10th anniversary and it means a bonanza of both radical sports and cultural happenings and concerts.

The city of Voss, at the west coast of Norway, is for a week transformed into an international arena for serious competitions in "extremists" sports genres in the wild Norwegian nature.

Base jumping, skydiving, paragliding, hang gliding, long boarding, white water rafting and kayaking, rock climbing and mountain biking, are amongst the activities athletes can experience at Voss, 24 June – 1 July.

Curious amateurs are also welcome to participate in the festival’s “Try It” beginner sessions, where nearly all of the sports can be tried with the guidance of experts and coaches.

If you do not make it to Voss this year, there are several other opportunities to experience untraditional activities in the surroundings of Norway’s nature. What about more rafting in the famous Sjoa river, mountain biking along Rallarvegen”, hiking in Jotunheimen mountain range, or killer whale safari in the Arctic Circle.
