Edvard Hoem, one of the most singificant personalities of Norwegian cultural life, writer and philosopher, accepted invitation of Universities in Bratislava, Trnava, Banská Bystrica and Prešov to introduce a lecture about Norwegian giant, known by attraction to small countries, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. Lectures will take place from 3 October until 7 October 2005.
Edvard Hoem is a known writer and active participant on Norwegian cultural scene. He has worked as a dramatic adviser and director of new-Norwegian theatre Det Norske Teater. During his long productive carrier he has published more than 40 books. He has been given many Norwegian esteems to his extraordinary work.
The title of his lecture is: „The Norwegian Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson“ with the following subtitles:
- Dissolution of the Union between Norway and Sweden (which 100. anniversary we commemorate this year)
- B. Bjørnson‘s connections to Slovakia
- B. Bjørnson as a peace-maker
The event is one in a series of lectures in Slovakia held by Mr. Hoem as part of the Embassy’s commemoration of the dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden in 1905.
