Contemporary Norwegian Architecture 2000-2005

After Bratislava, Banska Bystrica will be hosting a comprehensive exhibition on Contemporary Norwegian Architecture. The opening of 50 works of Norwegian architects will be on 26 September 2007.  The exhibition is possible to see daily from 10.00 till 16.00 until 9 October in the Hall of Emil Bellus, Nam. SNP 7, Banska Bystrica.

The exhibiton is organized by the Norwegian Embassy in cooperation with the Slovak Architects Society.

The exhibition is produced by the Norwegian National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design (NM) commisioned by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The exhibition offers a fascinating selection of projects, from lodges to large, complex buildings, such as Snøhetta's Biblioteca Alexandrina. Some architects focus on the social dimension of architecture and others use architecture to solve environmental problems: Helen & Hard transform leftovers from the oil industry, containers and old baracks, into attractive low-cost housing.

Displaying projects of 50 most important buildings erected in Norway during 2000-2005 were selected  by a jury. Each building is presented by photographs, drawings and a short text in English. Five of the buildings are also shown as models and some of them presented in a film.
