Edvard Hoem toured Slovakia

The Norwegian writer and philosopher Edvard Hoem toured Slovakia with his lecture “Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsons European Visions and Norway in Europe today”.

Mr. Hoem has dedicated the last years to Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, working a series of books about the life of the famous Norwegian Nobel prize laureate and politician. The books "Wild years. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson 1832 – 1875", "Stormy friendship. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson 1875-1889" and "Sing me home. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson 1875-1889" are already published, and Mr. Hoem is currently working on the final part of the series.

Edvard Hoem has published a number of novels, and has been nominated for the Nordic Critics' Literary Prize four times, for the novels "The Ferry Crossing", "Probation", "Ave Eva" and "Mother's and Father's Story".

In addition to this, he has written plays and essays, and he has translated seven of William Shakespeare's plays into Norwegian, among them "Othello" and "King Lear".

Mr. Hoem had also opened the Norwegian film festival in Bratislava on 9. May, 2012, and the next day he participated in the opening of Bjørnson’ s courtyard  in the building of the Slovak Philharmonic (Reduta) in Bratislava.
