Newsletter 06-07/12The Sculpture and object XVII exhibitions are opening in Bratislava this week, and we are especially looking forward to the contributions of the three Norwegian artists Espen Gangvik, Arne Ingvaldsen and Josefine Lyche. You can read more about their exhibition “Geometrical abstraction.eu” in the article below. Like previous years, the Embassy recently participated in Nase Mesto – Our Town. This is the largest company volunteering event in Slovakia, and takes place in a number of cities. We had a lot of fun doing paintwork in a childcare centre, and encourage even more companies and institutions to participate next year. The Embassy has taken part in various activities connected to Bratislava Rainbow PRIDE over the last month. In the articles below you can read more about the Norwegian focus on the rights of sexual minorities, the joint supportive statement issued by the diplomatic community in Bratislava, and Ambassador Trine Skymoen’s participation in the PRIDE parade. You may also read about the attendance of the Norwegian State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gry Larsen at the opening of Bjørnson’s Courtyard in Reduta. The Norwegian writer Edvard Hoem simultaneously toured Slovakia with a lecture about Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, the famous Norwegian writer and poet who also wrote the Norwegian national song. This was sung several times during the celebration of the Norwegian Constitution Day together with Norwegian students and families in Martin. We wish you a lovely summer, The Norwegian Embassy in Bratislava
