A year at the Norwegian folk high schools

Norway´s first folk high schools opened in 1864, and today there are 77 folk high schools located throughout  the country.  Young people from Slovakia can apply for a school year 2009-2010.

Students, mostly between the ages of 18 and 25 who have completed their upper secondary education, attend folk high schools each year.

Folk high schools are one-year boarding schools offering a variety of exciting non-traditional and non-academic subjects, as well as academic subjects.
Folk high schools do not  grant degrees of conduct exams. Schools are mostly private schools, but also receive government  funding.
There is no tuition fee, not even for international students.  Everyone pays for room, board, study trips, and teaching materials.
